In the throes of a fierce relegation fight, talismanic forward Hans Haenicke is back.

After months overseas, the Lisle-native returns for the last two matches, bringing the fire and intensity that made him last year's top scorer.

With his heavy-metal soccer, Steel City's dreams of survival roar to life once more.

About Haenicke

He'll score on you now, then out-earn you later. 

In December, the Macalester College forward was chosen to the Division III Academic All-American Third Team. The double-major has a cumulative GPA of 3.98.

On the field, Haenicke is a three-time All-MIAC and two-time All-Region forward who has led macalestermsoc in scoring in each of the past three seasons. Haenicke ranks 11th in goals all-time for the Scots with games remaining to continue to climb.

Hans led Steel City in scoring last season with six goals and one assist. Haenicke is tied for fourth on Steel City's all-time goals list with Brandon Camacho at eight. He also scored a bevy of goals in Steel City NXT's league championship season in '22.

In high school, Haenicke led benetsoccer to a IHSA State Championship while being named chicagolandsoccer and Naperville Sun's Player of The Year.

Up Next: 
Steel City travels to Czarni Jaslo Tuesday at 8pm (this match was originally scheduled for July 20th) and to DeKalb County United Saturday at 4:30pm. Each of the three teams is mathematically eligible to be relegated with two games remaining.
