Fifty-five years ago today, America captured the world’s attention when our Apollo 11 mission landed on the Moon and astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first to walk on the lunar surface.
 
Today we are reminded how NASA changed the world during the early era of space exploration. As we look toward the future and prepare for NASAArtemis astronauts to take the next steps on the Moon, we remember the courage of the Apollo astronauts and their scientific discovery that lit the way forward.
 
As the chair of the National Space Council, VP Kamala Harris is propelling NASA forward — not just to the Moon, but to explore Mars and beyond. We look to the next generation of scientists, engineers, and explorers to continue this legacy.
