Too many DIY athletes out there🤦‍♂️

Let me tell you guys a story:

🗣10 1/2 years ago I walked into Pfa as a recently released professional athlete from the Minnesota twins. I had been recommended to PFA by a scout in the Seattle Mariners organization and a scout in the Miami Marlines organization, both of whom spoke highly of Dave’s strength program. They believed that my off-season would be most productive if I spent the winter preparing myself in the weight room under Dave’s tutelage. Sure enough they were correct and I was able to gain a couple miles per hour and make it to spring training with the Marlins that very next season.

Many of you OG followers will remember the iconic WALL at PFA. It stood for something much more than a collection of stickers from the various colleges we helped athletes commit to from our travel ball teams. It was rather a personification of the sweat, work ethic, and absolute grind of the athletes who spent countless hours working out under the guidance and direction of our strength trainers. I have personally had the privilege of being a strength trainer for many of those athletes and have since witnessed hundreds of athletes get to the next level by simply showing up to the weight room every opportunity they were able to. I have always admired Dave’s methodology for training athletes because it most directly correlated to the strength exercises we implemented at the various professional teams I played for. I also cannot ignore the feedback we constantly get by high-end D1 coaches. Simply put: coaches knew when they recruited from us they were not just getting an athlete with clean mechanics, they knew they were getting an athlete who had work ethic on and off the field. They also knew they were going to get someone who personified the PFA culture of being a positive role model and leader for their team. Today I look around the weight room and see the 1% of the 1% who still show up, but my heart goes out to all these athletes who think they can do it themselves. We all need experts in our corner who are going to guide us and push us to do the things that we NEED to do (not just WANT to do) to get better🙏 #WalkWithLions
