On a real note tho...Why is it that the majority of athletes I’ve talked to say that the number 1 dreaded moment in their sports career is dad’s car ride “talk” after a loss?

Parents: What message are we trying to send to your kids?🤔

I don’t have all the answers, but I do know there is a BETTER way of handling “constructive criticism” and a MUCH BETTER time to do it.

I have ALWAYS been my own biggest critic...something of a perfectionist to say the least. For me personally, when I am in that state of mind, it is usually best to give me time to blow off steam (usually over a hot meal), and then when the time is right, ask me how I felt about the game...You will be surprised how much insight we will give you if you allow us to speak our mind on the matter rather than telling us “how YOU would have done it differently”. Your insights valuable, but what is the point of sharing them if we are going to tune you out in that moment🤔 Give is time to process and we will be more open to advice💡
