PSUK: EX UK PRIME MINISTER BORIS JOHNSON HAS RESIGNED AS A MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. 

An investigation into the 'Partygate' scandal found that he had misled parliament, and as such recommended a lengthy suspension from the House of Commons.

In a statement Boris said: "I am bewildered and appalled that I can be forced out."
