Today is #WorldEnvironmentDay. 

At Mercedes-Benz, sustainability and climate protection are key pillars of our sustainable business strategy. To this end, we are implementing a series of initiatives and technologies that will help us to produce our vehicles in a more sustainable way. We are stepping forward to our circular economy approach with the aim to reduce our carbon footprint.​

We are making strong progress towards these goals. Here are the key milestones: ​

- Use of CO2-reduced steel and aluminum including recycling content to drive supply chain decarbonization:​

- Rollout of our own global charging network with over 10,000 fast-charging points by 2030. ​

- Construction of a battery recycling plant in Kuppenheim, Germany – the first of its kind in Europe. ​

- Net carbon-neutral fleet of new vehicles in 2039 – 11 years earlier than EU stipulates. ​

- CO2 emissions per passenger car in the new vehicle fleet reduced by up to 50% along all stages of the value chain by the end of this decade compared to 2020 levels. ​

- Launch of our electric-first platform MMA in 2025 marks the next step into our electric future.​
