Dance is more than just a hobby, and for pioneers like Alvin Ailey, dance can birth a legacy. 

In 1958, Ailey used his love for dance theater to honor black culture, and even after his death, the theater continues to deliver awe-inspiring performances.  Thanks to Ailey, thousands live out their dream as professional dancers. 

That’s why he’s one of the 24 #DopeBlackMen we’re highlighting as the #MenOfChange exhibit is at the Museum.
