ncrmuseum at the Lorraine Motel was a regular Memphis listing in the #GreenBook since the early 1960s. When air conditioning was the new thing, the Lorraine was among the directory’s first motels to advertise the amenity. The guide provided Black travelers critical info to vacation without racial aggravation and pointed to places for Southern comfort during the city’s hot summers.
