Seeing a bison in person can be an amazing experience. But do be careful. They are big, can run pretty fast, and don’t mind taking you down a few pegs. ⁣
⁣
Sometimes, you may be extremely careful, meticulously follow all regulations and bison safety tips, yet still have a bison encounter worth remembering…or not remembering? 

⁣If a bison does start to head your way, secure the pants, back away slowly, and don’t run or make sudden movements. ⁣Remember, if they don’t move, it's you who should be backing away.
⁣
What’s that bison thinking? There are some clear signs that a bison is agitated and might ruin your day. Watch for and retreat when you notice agitation. (Agitated Bison would be a good band name.) Signs of agitation include: snorting, shaking tossing of its head, pawing the ground, raising its tail, and bluff charges. (Similar to us getting out of bed and ready for work each morning.) ⁣Keep in mind, Mid-July is the beginning of mating season, which generally lasts a month. Bison are even easier to agitate during this time.
