When helping with search and rescue operations, investigations, patrol, and more at @grandcanyonnps, Ranger Hassell understands the unpredictability of the job and having every day look different. 

LE Ranger Keela Burt at @indianadunesnps helps with patrols and search and rescue. After one of her first search and rescues assignments, she reflected: “This is only the beginning of a crazy, unpredictable, adventure of a career, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.“

LE Ranger Madison Reika works at @mountrainiernps, but has worked in parks ever since being on a trail crew as a teenager. Reika remembers discovering archaeological resources during one backcountry patrol in a previous park: “One of my coworkers decided to look in one last cave. She kept saying, “I can’t believe it!” I assumed she was face to face with a mountain lion. I approached, ready for anything. There was an intact pot. We called our coworker who ventured into the cave and shouts back “Oh my god, there are two!”

LE Ranger Hailie Hauser works at @bigsouthforknps and loves any opportunity to patrol on horse. “Day one at academy I was asked by our instructor why I wanted to be a ranger. I said, “I plan to do mounted patrol and combine my passion for horses with work. He looked at me and and said “okay….” During my first season at a park, I sent them a photo of me on horseback patrol.”
