“There once was a ship that put to sea
The name of that ship was the Billy o' Tea
The winds blew hard, her bow dipped down
Blow, me bully boys, blow (huh)”

It's #NationalFishingandBoatingWeek! As we approach summer, many of you are getting ready to break out the flippy floppies, floaties, and cast a line to catch "the biggest fish you’ve ever seen!" Or just keep from tipping over the canoe.

From coast to coast, boating and water sports encompass a wide variety of ways and activities for the public to access and enjoy these waters and places either on, in, or under the water including paddling, sailing, motorized boating, stand-up paddle boarding, fishing, diving, snorkeling, swimming, and more. Things to keep in mind:

⛵️I’m on a boat! No matter the size of your boat, research the location of launch facilities, marinas, and refueling stations so you know where to put your vessel into the water and obtain supplies. Many parks have this information available in the “Plan Your Visit” section on their park website.

🎣While on the website, find out exactly where and how you can fish within park boundaries. Learn about park specific rules, fishing and boating regulations, hazards, and any closures.

🌬The winds can blow hard. Remember, your safety is your responsibility. Wear a life jacket, maintain your vessel, operate it responsibly, and always check the weather before heading out.

Thank you for reading. We'll take our leave and go.
