It’s #NationalTakeAHikeDay! Time to lace up your boots! Maybe a trek up a mighty peak is what you’re after? A walk among the changing leaves? Perhaps meandering down a boardwalk is more your speed? National parks offer many opportunities to hit the trail. ⁣
⁣
Speaking of speed. In the past we may have joked about sacrificing slower friends in times of need. We’d prefer if you avoid this. It makes for awkward hikes, the wildlife prefer more of a challenge, and we want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable visit! If on a group hike with close friends or family, let the slower hiker set the pace. Putting the slower hiker (hey, I just want to take in the scenery) near the front keeps your group together. While it may take a bit longer to reach your ultimate destination, and may build resentment with the speed walkers in the group, staying together helps reduce the chance of someone getting lost...or a family dispute breaking out because you pushed Grandma down when your brother stepped on twig that you thought was a snake and you yelled, “you’re on your own!!!” ⁣(Also, if you go this route, make sure you’re the one with the car keys.)
