It’s whatever you want it to be. Climb a mountain, go on a hike, explore a historic gilded age home (we have those in the NPS, you know?), or spend a weekend with friends and family in the great outdoors. We’d be remiss if we didn’t offer the obligatory reminders in 3,2,1…⁣

🌞 Plan ahead if you’re thinking about visiting a park. Yeah, it’s pretty busy right now in the big parks. Hey, great time to explore a park that’s off the beaten path. They do exist! ⁣
⁣
🌞 Check that weather. It’s hot out there. Be on the lookout for thunderstorms and any severe weather that may pop up. When thunder roars, go indoors.⁣
⁣
🌞 Also, check park websites for latest info, don’t feed the wildlife, no bison selfies, we’re going to keep saying it people, stay hydrated (we’re thinking water), come early, stay late, gosh, what else, wear pants (where appropriate), be nice to other visitors. No personal fireworks allowed. If you want to see a chemical reaction that lights up the sky enjoy the magical experience of the back end of a firefly. Or look up at the stars? It’s cloudy? Well, we can only do so much. ⁣

What’s a weekend? Whatever you want it to be. You read til the end! But yeah, be safe. ⁣
