#repost from therapyforwomen:

“Did you know that there are actually THREE types of loneliness?

According to US Surgeon General drvivekmurthy, the three types of loneliness are...

Intimate- a need for a partner, close friend, family member or confidant

Social- having a group of friends or support system

Collective- having a community, or a network of people with whom you have something in common

Learning about these different types of loneliness was such a game changer for me. I don’t know about you, but I used to believe once I got married I would *never* feel lonely again.

Ha! My first year of marriage brought more loneliness than ever before with COVID.

So many of us are struggling with loneliness this year more than ever. But learning about different types of loneliness allows us to recognize where we can take action to start feeling better.

According to a nextdoor global research study, knowing as few as 6 neighbors can help reduce loneliness and sharing small acts of kindness (like waving hello) can help you feel more connected and less lonely.

Here are some ideas I have to help you feel less lonely intimately, socially and collectively.

If you are looking to connect to your neighbors download the Nextdoor app and join me in participating in the #kindchallenge by doing an act of kindness for your neighbors and sharing it below!

We launched the Nextdoor #KINDChallenge in partnership with researchers, therapists, and #mentalhealth advocates to spread the word about the epidemic of loneliness and how neighbors can combat it together.
