#SummerXMoody: Dallas native Kyla Simmons is working as a utexasrtf Summer Camp Assistant, allowing her to teach filmmaking skills to students ages 6 to 18. “I am helping out because I love filmmaking, and I want to share my knowledge from film school to help young creatives and filmmakers learn the world of cinema.”

Kyla absolutely loves her experience working alongside camp director Elana Wakeman. She helps with all aspects of the camp, including creating attendance rosters, checking students in and out, and assisting grad students with film shoots and media camps. Kyla was always there, ready to lend a helping hand.

“I love the filmmaking community, and I love to see kids do what I am currently doing in film school so early in their career.” Kyla is using all the skills she learned at #TEXASMoody to ensure the campers are having an enriching experience. “By participating in film projects and seeing their work come to life, youth gain confidence in their abilities and talents. Lastly, film camps teach the importance of working collaboratively, helping students develop listening skills, and valuing diverse perspectives, which is highly significant today.”
