Join us as we PAWS to celebrate taylorp.77, ugacaesstudents Entomology and Applied Biotechnology major. Taylor completed an in-person experience with cdcgov and georgiadph!

​Here's what she had to say about her experience: “My work was focused on studying the populations of ticks throughout northeast Georgia. We tracked local tick populations to learn about the potential for tick-borne disease spread within the state. I learned how to properly survey sights for vectors of disease. I also learned how to run pathogen tests on samples we collected in the field."
​
We love that she gained experiences that she never thought would be possible! "​I have always wanted to be a research scientist, and I never thought I would have been able to get started on my career this early into my college education. Working at the CDC/GDPH has given me so many opportunities to build myself both as a student and as a future scientist!"

​Her advice for other students? ➡️ "If you are truly excited about a position or eager to learn what is in your intended field, put yourself out there! Apply to everything you are interested in! Every application cycle presents a new learning experience, and it never hurts to build your confidence by expressing who you are to potential employers and mentors! Try for anything, and learn everything during the process!" #paws4dawgsonthejob
