Today we're excited to feature Nicholas Koenig, Junior terrycollege Accounting Major.

His PLANS ➡️ This past fall, I accepted a tax summer internship offer with the accounting firm Plante Moran in Detroit with a start date of June 1. Since a lot of my family lives in Detroit, the plan was for me to live with them over the summer.

What CHANGED? 🌀 As a result of Covid-19, Plante Moran transitioned their in-person internship online and moved the start date back one month.

How did you PIVOT? ↪️ I started seeking other opportunities and found an accounting internship with one of the local firms in my area, VProVantage. It was a part-time job (15 hours a week) but it helped prepare me well for the online Plante Moran internship that I'm completing currently. With extra time on my hands, I also had an opportunity to apply to the KPMG Masters of Accounting with Data and Analytics program and study for the GMAT.

What did you LEARN? ✏️ I learned to always be open to new opportunities. While I wished I would've been able to work in Detroit for the summer, I know that I wouldn't have had time to prepare for the GMAT and apply to the KPMG program. I learned to roll with the punches and not get bogged down if something unexpected comes up. That's life. You can try to prepare as best as you can for the future, but life sometimes throws a curveball and you have to adapt. #pawsitivepivots
