## Caption

(Part 3 / 4) One day in 2020, Makilina found herself with an extremely severe bout of diarrhea that lasted the entire day and into the night. The next morning when Makilina got up to use the latrine, she suddenly fainted inside due to weakness. 

When Makilina’s husband came home later that day, he was shocked to find her unconscious. He shook her repeatedly to wake her and when she eventually did, she started vomiting and fainted again. 

Makilina’s husband tried to carry her and put her on the family bicycle to take her to the nearest town with a hospital, many kilometers away. But as Makilina was repeatedly fainting and vomiting, eventually her husband called a motorbike to take them, and he carried her on the back of the vehicle all the way to the hospital. 

After being treated at the hospital, Makilina woke up with no idea where she was or any recollection of what had happened. Everyone told her she was lucky to be alive, having received re-hydration treatment just in time. 

Makilina was traumatized by the incident, and when it was time to go back home to Chawa, she lived in perpetual fear of the water she was collecting and drinking from the river. She was just biding her time until the day when she would suffer again from a severe water-borne disease.
