Happy Pride Month! Before this month is over we at Square Root Academy want to highlight some  LGBTQ+ S.T.E.A.M Innovators that have proudly trailblazed in the world of S.T.E.A.M! Swipe to learn more about these S.T.E.A.M Heroes!
1). X. Eyee, Product Manager and part of the Google Research Data & Media Understanding Team for Responsible AI. First learning to code while in juvenile detention she has also worked w/Microsoft. X. 
2). Lauren Esposito, Arachnologist who studies spiders and related animals. She’s the only woman expert on scorpions in the world and is also the co-founder of ‘500 Queer Scientists’, a visibility campaign for LGBTQ+ people and allies working in S.T.E.A.M.
3). Phill Wilson,  President/ CEO of the Black AIDS Institute, the only national HIV/AIDS organization focused exclusively on Black people and co-founder of the National Black Lesbian & Gay Leadership Forum. 
4). Nergis Mavalvala, Part of team of scientists who first observed gravitational waves from the collision of two black holes. 
5). Chanda Prescod-Weinstein, Theoretical cosmologist, and an assistant professor of physics and astronomy and a member of women's and gender studies at the University of New Hampshire. Also a founding member of the American Astronomical Society Committee for Sexual Orientation and Gender Minorities in Astronomy.
6). Paul Erdős, Mathematician who worked at several universities and was a member of science academies in 8 different countries. Referred to numbers, especially prime numbers, as his best friends. Titling his biography "The Man Who Loved Only Numbers."
 
7). Sally Ride, The first American woman to go to space. A physicist by training, she was hired to be in the first class of NASA astronauts to ever include women.
