This is an excellent expression of old vine merlot from the finest terroir to produce such a varietal in Italy. The Collio and surrounding areas of Friuli have such a gift of delivering Merlot in top form. This wine is in a great drinking window and is showing wonderful development while retaining energy and style. Lovely aromatics of purple fruits, earth, herbs and balsamic lead to a soft and full palate of dark fruit and elegant tannins. We love this wine for being a true, salt of the earth kind of wine. A wine that is humble and sophisticated, elegant and charming, rustic yet filled with class.
