DENNIS HEENAN
1938-1941 (Varsity), 1943-1946 Varsity, 1965-1976 (JV)

Dennis (Denny) Heenan is often credited for laying the foundation of what has become Bellarmine Football - a Tradition of Excellence. During his years coaching football at Bellarmine, Heenan compiled a record of 56 wins, 18 losses, and 5 ties; he had undefeated teams in 1939 and 1946. 

He went on to become the athletic director and freshman football coach at SantaClaraUniv in 1947 and eventually turned to real estate. 

In 1965, Heenan returned to Bellarmine to teach history and coach the JV football team. He retired from Bell in 1976. For him, Bellarmine was home, combining his love of working with youth, dedication to spiritual life, and passion for coaching football.
