In 2016 I watched my first World Championships in person as a fan. In 2022 I watched it as a friend. I’m watching athletes….Athletes I train along side, athletes I race and occasionally have beat. 

However there needs to be a highlight on those athletes that don’t achieve the “pinnacle” event. Even if an athlete fails to make a team, or in my case an athlete fails to make a final to make that team….all of a sudden our dreams get put on hold. “Next year” is the shift but that doesn’t mean we can make bounds right now. 

I’ve had a great amount of fun these past few races ending with a PB of #335 and coming within a half second of my first world standard. I’m an athlete that’s constantly knocking at the door of a breakthrough but i want to be the Kool-aid man. I want to smash that wall and yell “OH YAH!!” cause I know I have it.

But realistically my story is one of patience and perseverance. I believe I’ll be more like an unexpected, wicked gust of wind that bursts the door open and hopefully causes chaos on the scene to those that couldn’t believe in a wind that strong. 

Tomorrow I have a big time session that I’m really excited about because it’s a challenge and it’s a full focus workout. I’m working to make a team, working to beat athletes I’ve never beat, I’m working for the love the sport.
