For the past three years, I’ve been in this constant back and forth battle with Atopic dermatitis (aka Eczema).

It’s prevented me from wearing make up, wearing certain clothing, eating certain foods, and even getting spray tans!!!

Eczema is my constant nightmare. It’s kept me up countless nights or I’d wake up with blood all over my sheets and hands because I was scratching away at my skin. I’ve tried to wear different clothing options to bed and even invested in some sleeping gloves! (Still didn’t work)..

As silly as it sounds, it has affected my mental health in ways I never knew that it could. I became depressed, self-conscious, an insomniac and it punched deep at my confidence.

Luckily, after years of trying to combat this, I found that I have to go gluten free and get bi-weekly injections (Dupxient). Along with all the little things like cool showers, no scratching and maintaining my skin care routine. 

***No matter what you are going through and as cliché  as it sounds, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. but I’ve been there. I felt what that’s like and I understand but I also came to understand that there are others going through the exact same thing.***

In my case, I joined multiple Eczema Support groups on Facebook. The relief I felt knowing that other’s are experiencing and questioning all the same things I was—- it grounded me.

This is my insecurity. This is the root of my anxiety. This is what I try to hide about myself to maintain this “perfect” and “pretty” life I pretend to have. But this is me. This is my real life. This is the battle God chose for me and I can only try and be a beacon of light & hope for others that are struggling with their own insecurities <3 We are just one big team out here. Let’s protect each other.
