CANADA SOCCER UPDATE 🚨
•
Canada Soccer and the Canada Olympic Committee have appealed FIFA’s decision to dock their women’s team six points at the group stage. ‼️
•
The organizations filed the appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Monday, stating it “unfairly punishes the athletes for actions they had no part in and goes far beyond restoring fairness to the match against New Zealand.” 🗣️
•
Canadian sports reporter Ben Steiner has shared that a hearing will likely take place on Tuesday, with a decision to come the following day. 🔜
•
It should be noted that the organizations are not appealing the decision to ban coach Bev Priestman from the sport, the suspension of CSA officials Joseph Lombardi and Jasmine Mander, or the £175,720 fine. 👀
•
What do we think, GISTers? Was FIFA’s decision fair? 🤔 #thegist
