A full set for Canada! 🥇🥈🥉
•
Christa Deguchi defeated the Republic of Korea’s Mimi Huh in the under-57 kilogram judo event to earn Canada’s first gold medal of Paris 2024. 🙌
•
With her win, Deguchi, a two-time world champion, becomes Canada’s first-ever Olympic champion in judo. 🔥
•
Deguchi already held the title of Canada’s most successful female judoka. In 2019, she was the first Canadian to ever win a world title in judo, then in 2023, she became a world champion again. Earlier this year, Deguchi took silver at the IJF World Championships, losing in the final to Huh. 👀

Talk about a place to get your redemption! 🎉 #thegist
