Luca Vitale, Mizzou Hockey broadcast manager, talks with two-way player Eli Baumstark ahead of the MACHA Tournament, where (8) Mizzou owns the top seed in the tournament and will face the University of Nebraska-Omaha in the first round on Friday.

Mizzou fans may remember the Tigers earned the 8th seed last year in this tournament and took down Wash U, Arkansas, and Nebraska-Lincoln en route to its FIRST-EVER MACHA Championship in program history to earn an automatic bid to the ACHA D3 National Tournament.

Eli and Luca discuss the updated ACHA D3 rankings, where the (8) Tigers dropped four spots from the previous ranking due to their 8-5 road loss to (10) Arkansas, and how the team perceives the rankings. The two also recap the Gateway to the West weekend, where Mizzou outclassed (22) Maryville 6-2 and edged SLU 5-4 in the FIRST-EVER Flyover Classic. Eli discussed the difference between competing on an outdoor rink and the freshman getting to compete in that contest.

The two also discuss if the Tigers have a target on their backs heading into the MACHA Tournament. Former Mizzou Hockey President Holden Carroll also provided some advice for the first-year players heading into the weekend.
