SAYING YES ✅ & SAYING NO 🚫

Saying "no" can be the ultimate time-saver. By saying no to the things that don't truly matter to you, you free up time and energy for the things that DO.

Dr. Christine Carter talks about this in our #bookofthemonth, "The Sweet Spot: How to Accomplish More By Doing Less"!

Her method starts with:
🚫 Saying no strategically
✅ Saying yes with abandon

If you need a little help in the yes/no department, you aren't the only one. It doesn't come naturally to most of us, so it pays to practice!

1️⃣ Rehearse saying no

Especially when we are running on autopilot, we rely on what's comfortable. Protect yourself from being caught off guard and practice your go-to "no" response. Christine suggests something neutral but firm, like "That doesn't work for me this time."

2️⃣ Be honest about your priorities

What matters to you, matters. Period. Whether or not your reasoning seems valid to the other person doesn't matter, but communicating your priorities lessens that friction.

3️⃣ Focus on the good

Goodness can come from a no. Goodness can also come from a yes. It all depends on the situation. Whatever you've responded, focus on the good that can come from that response.
