Having some time to process what happened last weekend, it is abundantly clear why I am where I am. I’ve fallen short at World Team Trials four times, and Olympic Team Trials twice. Through those times I had a incredible support from my family, coaches, teammates, and sponsors, and still do! The reason I’m an Olympian today is a product of the work done by my team at functionalpatterns and naudiaguilar. When we first started it was trying to undo injuries and years of bad habits. Once we cleared all of that up Naudi had a vision of a different type of wrestler. I could’t go back to the old version of myself while continuing the pursuit of being a functional human. He shared his vision with me and we made it a reality. I am a better wrestler and mover than ever before, the footwork and technical skill involved with biomechanics is unmatched. No one could have done what Naudi and Functional Patterns have done to my movement. I am faster, stronger, more powerful, more coordinated, and in better shape than I have ever been and that’s because of FP. It was never easy, sleepless nights, emotional, physical, and mental breakdowns were the norm along this journey. We were navigating unchartered territories, and put a lot on the line in this pursuit.
