The sun has finally come out!

With the hot weather set to stay for a while, here are our top tips for keeping your eyes safe.

- Protect your eyes with sunglasses. The bigger, the better for maximum protection from UV rays. Sunglasses not only protect your eyes but the skin around your eyes. 

- Children from six months old should be wearing sunglasses when outside. 

- To keep your eyes cool, wash them with cold water or an ice pack. The cold water helps to take heat away from the eyes. 

- Lubricate your eyes. When eyes lose moisture, they become dry and itchy. Just like you hydrate your body by drinking water, do the same for your eyes using eye drops.

- Avoid the eye area when applying sunscreen, as it may cause irritation.
