## Caption

NEVER assume, if you must, assume that everyone can benefit from inclusivity and accessibility- because it’s true!

Words matter, how words are delivered matter. Intentions may be good however think about things can be perceived by the for whom you are accommodating and the general audience.

What is one thing you’ve learned and practice now to be accessible and inclusive?

VD: Michelle wearing a purple/gray sweatshirt with her hair down talking to camera.

Transcript: No one in this room needs us to turn on captioning or get ASL interpretation right?

Does that seem inclusive to you?
1. It’s not inclusive to assume that people won’t need accommodations. ANYONE and EVERYONE can benefit -even hearing individuals and even the ASL interpreters!
2. Putting it on me, or them to advocate - which I honestly don’t always want to, have the energy. What if someone was feeling VERY self conscious about their needing accommodations - say a newly identified or deafened person?
3. My favorite quote from Renee Laporte says - When someone is truly included, no one will question their presence, only their absence.

How often do you feel put on the spot for your disability?
