#🎨🚧🏀renovationguide

Recently, we have had to repair and resurface a number of painted “mural” basketball #hypecourt courts in different cities.

Typically, the courts have either become slippery and/or the paint is delaminating.

Usually that means (1) the court was not repaired and resurfaced first and (2) an asphalt, concrete, or other, paint was used (usually applied directly to the asphalt or concrete base), instead of sports specific resurfacer and sports specific color coatings.

We use a number of different sports specific brands (a web search for “tennis court resurfacing supplies” will bring up options), but we also recommend working with an experienced local contractor when possible.

Working with artists on these projects can bring a new energy, more users, and a different mix of users, into the park, but it is essential that any artist or organization working on public park basketball courts use the appropriate materials to repair, resurface, and color coat so the final court is as functional and durable as possible!

Please see the Resources page of our website for more information or feel free to email info@projectbackboard.org with specific questions!

We also use #🎨🚧🏀renovationguide to share information and tips we have learned over the years since we started in 2015!
