Happy #ThetaThursday! Introducing Rory Jaynes

Rory is a member of MC 20 and is majoring in Biological Sciences. Outside of Columbia, she calls Sikeston, Missouri home!

Rory impresses all of us in Theta everyday with her dedication to each and every thing she is involved in here at Mizzou. In addition to working towards completing her undergraduate degree and working as a Patient Care Technician at Boone Hospital, she has also recently been accepted into the prestigious Brant Scholars Medical School Pre-Admissions Program. “This program will offer me automatic acceptance into Mizzou's medical school after I graduate,” Rory explains.

Rory’s passion for medicine began while she was growing up in Southeast Missouri. “I grew up in the middle of healthcare disparities that are completely normalized.” she says. “I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to be a physician, but seeing firsthand the challenges my community and ones like it face only solidified that for me. My goal is to become a rural physician and provide healthcare in an underserved community.”

In addition to preparing for medical school, Rory also pours her time and effort into Theta. As Year-Long Activities Chair, she is in charge of all things Homecoming. It has been really rewarding to see how our sisterhood is growing and strengthening as we’re working together to create something we can all be proud of.” Rory says.

Rory says her time in Theta has encouraged her to pursue her goals and supported her along the way. “In my past two years in Theta, it truly has become my calm in the middle of a storm. The members are the most humble yet absolutely extraordinary humans I’ve ever met,” she says. “They’re my biggest cheerleaders when I’m doing something I love, but also know my limits and help me prioritize myself when they know I’m running on empty.”

We are so proud to have a leader like Rory in our chapter and we are so excited to see all the things she accomplishes in the future. We love you, Rory!!
