Snippets of Santorini. 🧿 

If you are planning to visit Greece in the near future, save this post for some tips:

- Oia is the town well known for its sunsets, which means it’s the most crowded. Walking through here was rough - so many people herding through the streets, no spots to take pics because it has so many people. In my opinion it’s overrated. 

- it’s better to visit Fira - less crowds, plenty of picturesque buildings with the blue domes, lots of shopping, and more side streets to explore 

- they do have public restrooms by their bell/watch towers but it’s 1 euro to use it so be sure to have cash with you. 

- they have a lot of great restaurants overlooking the water so be sure to take a coffee/frappe break there while you enjoy the breathtaking view 

- frappe’s originated in Greece which is coffee with icecream in it (like an afogado) 

- To get down to the port, you can take a cable car or a donkey. The donkey ride is 10 euros. The cable car is 6 euros but keep in mind the line is very long anytime before 4pm. We waited at least 40 minutes to get on. 

- pro tip, we spotted a professional photographer taking wedding pics so we followed their route to take pics. 

- don’t overpack - they have a lot of cute beach coverups, dresses, kimonos / for such a great price- you”ll end up buying some so don’t over pack so you can shop a bit ;) 

Ok - this is all I can remember for now, I’ll add more as I think of them so don’t forget to save this for reference. 

PS - I was only in Santorini for a day with the virginvoyages cruise so these tips are for those with a quick itinerary.
