Economics concentrator Abhishek Malani investigated bike sharing systems for his thesis, which he titled, “Out of Stock? Outage-Induced Demand Loss in Bike Sharing Systems.”

Abhishek knew he wanted to research how network economies function and said that “after stumbling around potential topics, I found the right one in bike sharing.”

“Writing a thesis is unlike any other academic experience I have had,” he said. “It becomes an all-consuming process and you truly feel like an expert on a niche field.”
