LET’S TALK BOOBS!

***As with many things in life, I never anticipated this would be my story...and I hope that sharing it helps someone else.***

Two weeks ago I underwent my third breast surgery in less than a year.

Here’s my story:

After breastfeeding my girls for more than 13 months, I was left depleted and deflated in the boob department. There were multiple wardrobe malfunctions resulting in flyaway boobs and peek-a-boo nipples that I can (now!) look back on and laugh but left me mortified at the time 🙈 Since then, I always wanted to get a lift, but couldn’t justify taking the time off from work since my job is so physical.

Last year because of Covid and back injury rehab, I had a break from teaching and scheduled surgery. My surgeon didn’t think I had enough breast tissue and said I would need augmentation as well. While I wish I would have listened to my intuition, (that this wasn’t the right choice for my body) I trusted that recommendation and had surgery in May of 2020.

Then two weeks later, I had to undergo emergency surgery due to a complication.

After a long recovery process, my movement still felt very uncomfortable and I began to have issues (frequent migraines, rashes, random pain) that were quickly linked to the material implanted.

I wasn’t due for a mammogram for four years, but a few months ago had a feeling that something wasn’t right. My doctor found a lump that needed to be removed. I made the decision to have my implants taken out at the same time, to ideally alleviate the other issues and prevent further complications.

I underwent my third surgery mid-April and while recovering from major surgery is never easy, I can say that I feel much healthier (and more myself!) already.

Recap:
In the past seven years my boobs have gone from C's (pre-babies) to E’s (breastfeeding) to B’s (saggy) to DD’s (post-augmentation) to now (post-surgery)…cute and healthy and perfectly me ☺️

Lessons Learned:
Always advocate for your health, trust your intuition, and schedule that mammogram!
