The important difference in shifting vs sliding:

- A topic coach_anzevino and I bring up often with the goaltenders is that a critical skill set to develop is a strong sense of when to move and how much to move so you have the ability execute a strong, balanced save and, very importantly, be in position for the next shot. With the pace of today’s game and the incredibly quick releases of the shooters, it is easy to get caught up in the flow of the play and over react in a situation, as seen here on this short side attempt. Developing a keen awareness of your net and a flowing economy of motion is paramount to your ability to control shots and/or put yourself in position for the next attempt.
