This morning we woke up to the news of more senseless bombardments into Ukraine, a country and its people fighting for their freedom.

I also woke up this morning to a beautiful reminder of the true celebration of freedom - to a livestream of our friends akiyogwadafrika in the guadeloupeislands opening the morning of Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) with music, singing, and dancing.

Today is more than just a parade, it is a celebration of the resilience of so many people who fought so hard for their freedoms and continue to fight for the survival of their culture.

I’m honored that we were able to film a 2-part special of Bare Feet featuring Carnival in The Guadeloupe Islands (Season 4) - you can watch both episodes for FREE on the pbs app, pbs.org, or on your local PBS station.
