As I continue to share my journey on how the #BareFeetSeries came to be, I want to go back to the idea of the 3 P’s needed to pursue a passion project.  That brings us to P #2: 
PERSISTENCE.

Building something from scratch was exciting and daunting all at the same time.  I would come up with ideas on how to find funding for the show, whom to pitch the show, how to structure the show, brainstorm ideas on who to work with - in my mind, there were endless possibilities with endless gatekeepers.  But luckily, I didn’t know how the business worked and I didn’t know any better - so with that naiveté, I kept charging along, building and building and making missteps and picking myself up and figuring out what was working and was wasn’t working.

The main thing was I didn’t give up - even after I was told I would never be the host of my own show because “I didn’t look like other hosts,” I DID NOT LISTEN to them nor did I follow their terrible advice (*2 Emmy Awards later for BEST HOST). I didn’t give up when a 3rd party production company took my footage hostage from my Minturno shoot (which I paid for with my own savings) for A YEAR, knowing that Travel Channel had signed an identical show so no one else would ever want it (I probably should have given up then as well). Even when it looked like no funding was going to come through for our Season 3 when we started on the #BareFeetDNA season, I still didn’t give up, knowing we had something special to share with the world.

Call it a little bit of insanity mixed with some delusion and a whole lot of tunnel vision and you get PERSISTENCE.
