💪 A man best known for courage against the odds, David Purley was born On This Day in 1945. 🎖️ A George Medal recipient for his efforts to save Roger Williamson at Zandvoort in 1973, Purley later survived a horrific crash at Silverstone; his throttle stuck open, he hit an earth bank fortified with railway sleepers and decelerated from 108mph to zero in half a metre.
