Sir Jackie Stewart lapped the field at the 1969 British Grand Prix, On This Day in 1969 - but only after a fast and furious battle with Jochen Rindt was cut short. They diced for the lead, inches apart, until lap 62, when a rear wing endplate on Rindt's Lotus 49B failed and began to scrape the tyre, forcing him to pit for repairs. 😩⁣
