Wish your iPhone videos looked cinematic?

Most people have misconceptions about what makes iPhone video look truly high quality. Here a few tips thank will help you on your video journey. 

1. Create Depth and Drama: Use foreground elements to add layers and dimension to your shots, giving them a professional, polished look. In the shot of the waterfall I added even more depth  by using bokeh (or lens blur) in the foreground. 

2. Capture Smooth Motion: If you don’t have CanonChroma Power Grades yet you can use ND filters to prevent choppy footage by controlling exposure, ensuring your videos have a smooth, cinematic flow.

3. Optimize Your Settings: Adjust your iPhone’s settings to the highest resolution to capture the best possible quality and change your frame rate to match your style. 

4. Master Lighting: Imagine your shot is a painting. Take advantage of natural light. Lighting is like a character in your portrait that adds shapes and dimensions. In this shot I used the natural lighting to accentuate the shadows towards the bottom of the waterfall to make it look a little more paintingesque. 

6. Enhance Color and Contrast: Edit your videos to boost color and contrast, bringing out the vibrancy and richness of your footage.

7. De-sharpen your Footage: iPhone video is just a tad too sharp due to the small sensor size. Fix this by dropping the sharpness just a few points in your editing software.
