Feel the spark with Wattage Wednesday.

The Rolls-Royce SMR offers a new approach to delivering nuclear power through a highly modular and factory-built design. Approximately 90% of the manufacturing and assembly occurs in a controlled factory setting, enabling extremely high quality, minimizing on-site disruption, and supporting global rollout.
The compact design occupies roughly one-tenth the footprint of conventional nuclear plants, further shrinking local ecological impacts over nuclea’s already tiny land use. Each 470MW power station can generate low-carbon baseload electricity for at least 60 years, while also supporting green hydrogen and synthetic fuel production.

The factory-built model is designed to be globally scalable to meet rising demand and attract private investment capital through its low-risk, standardized approach. Rolls-Royce has already signed agreements for deployment in Estonia, Turkey, and the Czech Republic as part of a target of $315 billion in exports, the creation of 40,000 UK jobs by 2050, and generating $66 billion in economic benefits. Not bad.
