Cory Hajde of Vessel Hospitality is set to take over Rood Food in Lakewood on Aug. 1, aiming to preserve the restaurant's high standards and seasonal favorites under Chef Josh Erickson's continued leadership. Rood founder Brian Ruthsatz is retiring.

📈 Rood Food started in 2018 with a concept of shareable sliders and signature pies. The pies have remained but the pandemic forced a shift to seasonal American fare that earned Rood a place on Cleveland Magazine's Best Restaurants list.

👨‍🍳 With Chef Josh Erickson at the culinary helm, the restaurant's popular dishes and creative flair are expected to maintain continuity. While Hajde plans few immediate changes, he is interested in subtle updates to enhance the restaurant’s operations and presentation.

🗨️ "The business is in such a healthy, thriving place and has a lot of room to grow,” says Hajde, who also owns Cloak and Dagger and Mahall's. “They have taken it slow and tackled things in the right ways. They’ve set a higher standard for themselves. I’m really impressed with the food they’re putting out.”
