Our next #SummerXMoody feature is Isa Herrera from Missouri City, TX! She is pursuing her public relations degree with a minor in sports media! This summer, she is the Communications and Social Media intern at Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team in Indianapolis. Isa spent an entire month on site at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indy 500, and attended events like Road America and Mid-Ohio. 
 
Isa secured this internship through networking from her previous internship at The Red Flags Podcast! This summer, she helped with writing copy, trackside reporting, producing content for social media, assisting with the influencer program and hosting VIPs onsite. A little bit of everything! 
 
“It’s so special to be surrounded by such a talented and passionate team, and I feel like everyone I have worked with has taught me something new, even the engineers and mechanics!” Working on the most followed IndyCar team has shown her the good and sometimes negative side of being in the spotlight. Isa said this internship prepared her for a career in sports comm! 
 
Her favorite part about being a #TEXASMoody student is how diverse the curriculum is. “Being interested in a role where I have to utilize so many different skills, I think having a range of expertise is really important. The professors I have had do an excellent job of emphasizing that.” 
 
Isa has been watching “Love Island USA” and listening to Tame Impala all summer! And she won’t lie, she took a break from reading this summer. Less than a month until the semester starts! What are you doing to relax?
