Today in Hip-Hop — Raekwon dropped his debut album, ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...’

In 1995, Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon delivered a breakout introduction with this 18-track album. Although ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...’ (or ‘The Purple Tape’ as many fans have come to refer to it, due to its early packaging) was pushed as a solo Raekwon album, Ghostface Killah’s “guest starring” presence marked the beginnings of a great musical duo. 

Standout tracks like “Criminology,” “Guillotine (Swordz),” and the ultimate classic “Ice Cream,” displayed Rae’s range as both a solo act and Wu member.
