Cate Carlson drained the go-ahead 3-pointer with less than a minute remaining and later added two free throws as No. 7 Catholic edged Shining Stars Academy, of Petersburg, 44-40 on Tuesday at Catholic.

Carlson finished with a game-high 27 points with 12 rebounds.

The Crusaders bounced back after their 12-game winning streak was snapped Saturday against Midlothian’s TPLS Christian Academy. Catholic improved to 21-4 overall and remain 7-0 in the Tidewater Conference.
