The No.5 ranked Phoebus Phantoms took care of business last night in Class 3 Region A and made a statement, beating No.2 Lake Taylor 56-6. 

Phoebus CB/WR Donald Gatling returned two interceptions for touchdowns, including a 109 yard return worthy of any highlight reel. 

“That’s my first time ever having two pick-sixes in my high school career, so it honestly felt good,” Gatling said. 

“We wanted to send a message to everybody in the 3A division,” Gatling said. “Next week we’re going out to send a message to the Peninsula District, but this week it was a message sent to everybody that we’re here and we’re not playing games this year.” 

Phoebus QB Mark Wagner finished 6 of 12 for 154 yards with 4 passing touchdowns to receivers Kymari Gray (two), Jalen Mayo and Jordan Bass. Wagner also rushed for 92 yards on eight carries including a 67-yard touchdown.
