UNI is among the few institutions that offers undergraduate scientific research. Named after a former professor and dean, McCollum Science Hall was dedicated March 7, 1969. George Wells Beadle, who won the 1958 Nobel Prize in physiology and medicine for his research on genetic chemistry, spoke at the dedication.
