South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) is proud to announce the hiring of Taylor Buie as the new @clipperwomensbasketball Assistant Coach.

Buie brings a wealth of experience and success to SPSCC. She served as the Assistant Coach at Division II Christian Brothers University from 2019-2021, where she played a pivotal role in guiding the Lady Bucs to a record-tying season — achieving the second-most wins in program history.

Women’s Basketball Head Coach Darah Vining expects Buie to have a big impact on the squad, saying, “Coach Buie brings a wealth of knowledge into our program. With her extensive experience at the four-year collegiate level, both coaching and playing, we are incredibly fortunate to have her join our coaching staff. I am confident she will make a significant impact on the development of our players, both on and off the court.”

Beyond coaching, Buie boasts an impressive playing career. A native of Puyallup, Washington, she earned recognition at DII Nova Southeastern University (NSU), achieving Honorable Mention All-American, All-Sunshine State Conference, and Honorable Mention All-Region honors. At NSU, she averaged an impressive 15 points per game and was instrumental in the Sharks’ remarkable run, reaching both the NCAA Elite Eight (2012-13) and Final Four (2013-14). Additionally, Buie played a key role during her time at Valdosta State, leading the Lady Blazers to the 2018 NCAA South Region Championship game.

Vining also spoke about her excitement about bringing Buie aboard, “Aside from Coach Buie’s knowledge and experience, I am especially excited to welcome coach to our all-women coaching staff. It is essential for our players to see strong female representation in these roles, allowing them to relate to their coaches both on and off the court. The ability to emphasize the power of women and coming together through the game of basketball is really special. She is bought in and ready to help us take off this season!”

Everyone help us welcome Taylor Buie to #TheClipperNation 🙌👏🏀
