Erin’s responsibilities include having two pitches prepared for a morning meeting, making calls to resources, organizing interviews, and traveling to locations. She shoots her interviews, does stand-ups, writes script, gathers b-roll, & gets her package together before her 4pm deadline so her work can be ready for their evening newscast.  

Erin found this job by sending her reporter reel & resume to E.W. Scripps Company. A recruiter reached out to her & she did interviews where she was referred to the station in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Favorite memory from La Salle? 
“My favorite memory from when I was at La Salle was when I was a senior & I was a video intern for the Philadelphia Eagles. I went to the Super Bowl with the Eagles in 2023 in Arizona my senior year.”

Valuable lesson learned?
“Don't be afraid to speak up to managers & higher ups. Managers are very receptive. They want to see you succeed. They're there to help you. Closed mouths don't get fed. So essentially, if you open your mouth & speak about whatever's bothering you, they'll help you out. If you don't speak up about it, nobody's ever gonna know that there's an issue.” 

Advice for Students? 
“One major piece of advice that I would give to current students, specifically seniors, is don't stress out too much about having a job setup before you graduate. Last year before I graduated, I was in such a panic to make sure I had a job set up before I walked across the graduation stage. Now that I'm a full-on adult, I realize there’s no rush. Enjoy La Salle while you're there & try not to stress out too much about the future because everything will fall into place. I didn't start this job until September after I graduated. I had that summer to put different resumes & different reporter reels out to different stations & see what I wanted to do.”
